2017-18 Session Underway
It was an honor to again take the oath of office on Tuesday, Jan. 3, to represent the people of Snyder and Union counties. In addition to the oath, members also unanimously selected Rep. Mike Turzai of Allegheny County as speaker of the House for the second consecutive session. The day also included certification of election results, election of the House parliamentarian and adoption of rules that will govern the chamber.

The House will return for its first full week of voting session on Monday, Jan. 23. To help keep you up to date on the latest news from Harrisburg and the 85th Legislative District, I plan to send periodic email updates. To sign up, click here.  
Register Now for Concealed Carry Seminar

Interested in learning more about firearms safety and rights? Come out to a Concealed Carry Seminar to be held Monday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Midd-West High School Auditorium, 540 Main St., Middleburg.

Presentations will be offered by the Snyder County District Attorney’s Office, Snyder County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police and Pennsylvania Game Commission. The presenters also will be taking questions from the audience. Information presented will be valuable both to people who have held a concealed carry license for many years and to those who recently obtained or are planning to apply for one.

Attendees are reminded that no weapons are permitted, as the event is on school property.

Veterans Assistance Available at Mifflinburg Office
Dan Falls, a veterans field service officer with the American Legion, will be available at the Mifflinburg on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. He will assist veterans with services such as compensation, education, pension, health care and death benefits.

Appointments are required and may be made by calling the office at 570-966-0052 or 570-837-0052. Veterans need not be a member of the American Legion to use the service.

Falls will be available at the office on the last Wednesday of each month.
