Celebrating Small Business!

It was an honor to take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for another local small business earlier this month. Congratulations to Scott Robinson, founder of SRTactical and Measured Response Group, located near Lewisburg. Mr. Robinson is a retired FBI unit chief and his businesses are designed to develop preemptive strategies and training to prevent crisis. SRTactical and MRG specialize in security, active shooter and workplace violence, as well as preemptive planning for educational institutions, health care facilities, houses of worship and other venues. Low-Interest Loans Available for Those Affected by August Storms

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has made disaster aid available in 26 Pennsylvania counties, including Snyder and Union, after significant flood damage to homes and businesses was sustained from severe storms between Aug. 10-15, 2018.

Low-interest loans of up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. SBA regulations permit loans up to $40,000 to repair or replace personal property. Businesses and nonprofits can borrow up to $2 million to restore damaged or destroyed buildings, inventory, equipment and assets. Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial qualifications.

In addition to our local counties, homeowners, renters and businesses in Berks, Bradford, Carbon, Chester, Columbia, Dauphin, Delaware, Juniata, Lackawanna, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Lycoming, Montgomery, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, Wayne and Wyoming may be eligible for the assistance.

Information and loan applications are available by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 (1-800-877-8339 for the hearing impaired), or by e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov. Loan applications can also be downloaded at www.sba.gov/disaster. Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via the SBA’s secure website here.

Completed applications should be mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155. The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is Feb. 11, 2019. The deadline to return economic injury disaster loan applications is Sept. 11, 2019.
 
 
103rd Farm Show Kicks off Jan. 5

Celebrating one of Pennsylvania’s top industries, the Pennsylvania Farm Show near Harrisburg will kick off Saturday, Jan. 5. The show will run through Saturday, Jan. 12.

The Farm Show, which features 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibitors, emphasizes the importance of agriculture in daily life, highlights the latest in ag technology and advancements, and offers attractions for all ages.

Admission to the show is free, but parking is $15 per vehicle. Shuttle service is provided.

Also, please note that PennDOT Driver License Centers will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25, for Christmas, and on Tuesday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s. Customers may still obtain a variety of driver and vehicle products and services online through PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov.

New Legislative Session Begins Tuesday, Jan. 1

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives will begin the 2019-20 Legislative Session on Tuesday, Jan. 1, with members taking the oath of office.

The oath will begin at noon and the ceremony will also include the adoption of House rules, election of the Speaker of the House and a joint session with the state Senate to certify election results. Live streaming of the entire ceremony will be www.RepFredKeller.com.
